About Us
Tapasya is a Sanskrit word implying a sincere and profound effort at meditation, austerity, and self-discipline towards attaining self-realization. Tapasya, Mangalore was formed as a Public Charitable Trust to serve all needy people irrespective of caste, creed, religion, sex or colour.
Comfort-oriented care, sometimes mandates a deeper commitment than what critical care can offer.
Our mission is to provide holistic medical care, aimed at optimising the quality of life and mitigating the suffering of people with cancer.
Tapasya is the brainchild of visionary activist Mrs. Sabitha R Shetty and her dedicated team of volunteers, who have made it to their life mission to address and alleviate the sufferings of children faced with life-threatening illness.
Palliative & Hospice Care Project
As our priority initiative, we are driven by the unflinching commitment to provide Paediatric Palliative & Hospice care along with rehabilitation of children from poor and deprived sections of the society. This will include free accommodation, food, recreational facilities, and other critical elements that define quality of life.
Over time, we intend to establish a model centre aimed at raising the benchmark for palliative and hospice care in developing countries. We have embarked building a hospice in Mudipu, about 25Kms from Mangalore.
Children suffering from cancer have to undergo a series of treatments and medications which call for enormous funds.
Tapasya is planning to build a hospice with an initial outlay of around Rs.10 crores with an annual recurring expenses of Rs. 1.5crore.
