

Tapasya Foundation – Building Hope and Healing for Cancer PatientsTapasya Foundation, which has been actively supporting cancer patients for the last six years, is currently building a free Palliative & Hospice Care Centre for terminally ill cancer patients at Mudipu, including a dedicated Pediatric Palliative Care Unit.
This initiative marks a significant step toward raising funds and awareness for this noble cause.
About the Project
Tapasya Foundation is developing a state-of-the-art 51-bed Palliative & Hospice Care Centre on 2.65 acres of land owned and purchased by the Foundation at Mudipu, Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka.
The project is being developed under the expert guidance of the Department of Palliative Medicine at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and with training support from Karunashraya, Bengaluru.
Planned across three levels and four construction phases, the centre will house 51 patient beds across seven thoughtfully designed wards, each with direct access to nature, stretcher-friendly exits, and dedicated nurse stations for continuous care and comfort.
Total Project Cost: ₹36 Crores (including infrastructure, landscaping, auditorium, and land)
Phase 1 has been successfully completed with generous support from:
- Lions International
- Suprajit Foundation
- Karnataka Bank Ltd.
- New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA)
- Several corporate and individual donors
Phase 2A is currently being funded by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).
Service Timeline:

- Since January 2024:Tapasya has been offering free Home Care services across three districts within a 100 km radius from Mangaluru.
- Since April 2024 :Tapasya has been offering An In-patient Palliative services at Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Naringana 2024
- Since September 4, 2025 All in- patients were shifted to the newly completed Ground Floor (Phase 1) of the Tapasya Palliative & Hospice Care Centre at Mudipu, with expanded facilities and enhanced care.

To provide world-class palliative care to terminally ill cancer patients — completely free of cost.
To achieve this vision, Tapasya organizes flagship community events such as the Mangaluru Beach Festival, Mangaluru Triathlon, and Mangaluru Marathon.
These events bring the community together and help raise funds to meet the ongoing expenses of the centre.
Mangaluru Beach Festival 2026:

The Mangalore Beach Festival aims to:
- Raise funds for Tapasya palliative centre

- Empower regional farmers

- Encourage students to be part of social responsibilities

- Participation from hundreds of schools
The 4th edition of the Mangaluru Triathlon returns as a thrilling sports and cultural celebration, supported by DK District Administration ,Mangalore City Corporation, Karnataka Tourism, NITK Students and local businesses.
It continues to be a beacon for fitness, community spirit, and charitable giving.
Fundraising through Tata Mumbai Marathon along with United Way Mumbai Platform
In 2024 Tapasya raised ₹44,10,345 with the efforts of many fundraisers which helped meeting expenses towards
